People can start using electronic cigarettes (e-cigs)for multiple reasons, such as wanting to quit smoking, just wanting to get into the hobby, or simply enjoying the experience. The development of e-cig smoking into a habit can take time, and this habit can even become an "important" part of anyone's life.

Therefore, quitting can also take just as much time – or even more – especially since it involves withdrawing the effects of e-cigs from your system. Quitting e-cigs is not impossible, but you need to be committed to quitting for you to succeed. Is such a thing possible?

E-cigs have become a trend recently, and perhaps this is one of the reasons why you got into the habit in the first place. You're not alone. In the United States, more than 9 million adults do vaping since 2014. A total of 3.7% of adults consume e-cigs every day. Almost 47.6% of cigarette smokers and 55.4% of former smokers have actually tried e-cigs.

In the days leading up to your last smoke, just use e-cigs as normal. However, when you use your last e-cig smoking, remember that this is your last one, so cherish the moment. Tomorrow, you're a completely new person and free of the need to use e-cigs.
  • Monitor and track your progress: People often find it hard to commit to a personal plan maybe because they think they're not making any progress and they are not seeing results. You can adjust to this situation by making sure you keep track of your progress, be it through a journal or an application. For instance, you sit down each day before you go to bed and write down the goals you have achieved, your thoughts, and even your struggles. After a few weeks, you can go back to your old notes and you might be surprised how far you have come. Or you can work on this the opposite way – remove the mentality of having to track your progress and just do your thing. Don’t think too much about it. Determine what works best for you.
  • Be in the company of others who have quit e-cig smoking: Another one good way of helping yourself commit to quitting e-cigs is to actually look for people who have already quit e-cigs or are in the process of quitting. This helps you explore various perspectives when it comes to quitting and may help you make new friends and develop new mindsets and techniques you can use to your advantage.
  • Seek professional help to get your perspectives straight: Sometimes, the best way to commit is to seek the help of a professional. Psychiatrists and psychologists can actually help you discover and develop the "quitting mindset" that works best for your needs. They can also help you find ways of rediscovering yourself in the quitting process.

The Bottom Line: Quitting Is Possible for Electronic Cigarettes

Quitting e-cigs is indeed possible, but committing to it can be perhaps one of the trickiest part of the process. However, quitting e-cigs is not entirely impossible to achieve. In fact, you may just need a quick few reminders and tips to get the ball rolling, so you can finally be free from e-cigs in no time at all.
